Baccarat is a card game played with a dealer and a player which is a bit like blackjack in that in the game you are dealt cards and then you have to stand or draw more cards.

In baccarat, the goal is to get as close to 9 as possible. The game is structured in such a way that it is not possible to get over 9 and lose the hand automatically as one would do in blackjack. In baccarat, you start with two cards each, and a maximum of one more card can be drawn so you have three in total.

When a game of baccarat starts, you as the player must choose whether you want to bet on your hand, the dealer's or a draw.

The game will then start. The player and the dealer receive two cards each. Once the cards are dealt, the total value of the player's card will be calculated and based on this, it will be decided whether to draw one more card. If the player's total is between 1-5 or 10, then one more card is drawn. If the sum is 6-7, then the player must also stand. The sum 8-9 is called a 'natural'. Here the player must also stand, and has automatically won the hand unless the dealer also has 8 or 9.

For the dealer, it's a little more complex. The dealer's actions depend on what the player has and which card the player has drawn as a third card. If the dealer has 0-2, then the dealer must always draw a card, unless the player has a 'natural'. The value 7 is never drawn by the dealer, which also applies if the dealer has a 'natural', which is the values ​​8 and 9.

For all other values, the dealer must draw from what the player draws in the third card, as shown below:

Handling for each value of the bank's hand:

0-2: Pulls unless the player has 'natural'

​

3: Pulls if the player draws, unless the player draws an 8

​

4: Draws if the player draws and the player draws a card between 2-7

​

5: Draws if the player draws and the player draws a card between 4-7

6: Draws if the player draws and the player draws a card between 6-7

7: Does not pull

​

8-9: 'Natural', does not draw and automatically wins the hand unless the player also has 'natural'

The bank must always draw from the above rules. This also applies if the bank could win by standing with two cards.

Once both the player and the banker have made the actions, the hand is decided. The one who comes closest to 9 has won the hand. If both end up having the same value, then the hand ends up as a draw.
